Amazing Chocolate Tart Recipe!

Ok folks, holiday season is upon us and show-stopping, crowd-pleasing chocolate desserts that can be made FAST and look and taste amazing are something everyone needs! This one is naturally gluten-free and can also be vegan and dairy-free.

Sorry it's not a great photo but I so badly wanted to eat it I forgot to take a pic of the whole thing first!

This base is just delicious and so quick to make, plus it's packed with protein, fibre and healthy-fat filled almonds too. There's just something that gets me super excited when a healthy recipe is just this good, but let's just get straight to the bit you actually want - voila! The recipe!


For the base:

  • 3 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil plus a little extra for greasing

  • 300g ground almonds

  • 50g cacao powder

  • 100 mls maple syrup

For the filling:

  • 300 mls double cream or coconut cream

  • 200g 70% or more dark chocolate (check it's vegan / dairy-free if you need that)


  1. Grease a pie dish (approx 22 cms diameter) with coconut oil or butter

  2. Melt the 3 tbsp coconut oil or butter, then add the almonds, cacao and maple syrup and mix well

  3. Tip the mix into the pie dish and smooth out evenly

  4. Pop it in the fridge to cool down while you make the filling

  5. In a heavy bottomed saucepan, warm the cream or coconut cream, then add the dark chocolate and mix until it's all evenly combined

  6. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes, then pour it into the base

  7. Chill back in the fridge for at least an hour or until it is set

I served mine with some whipped cream and sea buckthorn berries (some sour contrast to the sweet of the tart!) but you can serve with whatever berries you have instead and swap the cream for whipped coconut cream or just leave it off if you like

I made this for the last be.human.natural retreat and it went down a storm - I'll have to serve it at my upcoming women's retreat at Jep's Place next year too!
