One of the things I most love about living in Northern Sweden is the seasons. Up here the differences are so much more striking - we get -30 degree snowy winters, exploding blossoms in Spring, beautiful warm almost 24 hour daylight summer days and evenings and right now a short but absolutely stunning display of autumn colours and produce.
Living with the seasons has been a thoroughly nourishing experience for me. The first winter I was here I made so many plans for all the millions of indoor activities I would do all winter, but the reality is my whole body slowed right down and took a huge giant and well needed rest. It sparked my interest into how the rhythms of the body also interplay with the seasons and how we can harvest the benefits of each and every one of them for our wellbeing.
So here we are in autumn, at the autumn equinox in fact, one of only two days in the whole year where the daylight and darkness are equally balanced. This is the tipping point between long summer days into long winter nights. It really invites us to also look inward, slow down, find some balance and calm and set the intention to rest, restore, rejuvenate, ready for the next turn of the seasons when the daylight hours will start climbing again in the opposite direction.
So if you would care to join me, I have recorded a short (18 minute) Autumn Equinox Meditation for you to enjoy. Please accept this invitation from me to take a short pause, allow yourself to reconnect with your body and offer a moment of calm and rebalance in your day or evening.
